I got an email today from Nicole at Ecu-Health Care in North Adams, in response to our news post yesterday.
'I'm a little confused, how can one enroll in Commonwealth Care on the 20th AND pay the premium on the same day? Is there a new way in which folks can pay by credit card over the phone? It's always been my understanding that if you have a premium the only method of payment is to write and mail a personal check or to pay by money order.'
I called the Connector. It remains true that the only way to pay for a premium is by mailing check or money order. So, Nicole is correct that there is no way to enroll AND pay a Commonwealth Care premium on the same day. That means clients must get a check in the mail with enough time for it to travel to New Jersey and be reported to the Connector.
It is true that once enrolled, your clients can print an invoice off of the Commonwealth Care website, which may save a little time. Chip Joffe-Halpern, also of Ecu-Health Care, sent me this address for overnight payments to the Connector:
Overnight Mail
Commonwealth Care
365 West Passaic Street 5th floor
Rochelle Park, NJ 07662
Has anyone had experience with this? How much does it cost? Does it really get there and get processed 'overnight'?
Thanks for the question, Nicole - and for the address, Chip!
Meg, I called the
Meg,
I called the Commonwealth Care enrollment number. I asked to speak with a supervisor who told me there was nothing that could be done to override the system. We were very unpleased.
Nicole
Nicole, Where did you call?
Nicole,
Where did you call? The Connector? Was any remedy offered?
Thanks,
Meg
I actually did have a lady
I actually did have a lady overnight a money order on the 17th of the month and it DID NOT get processed in time. It arrived on time, it just didn't get opened and processed into the computer system in time for her coverage to begin on the first of the following month. When we called about it, we were told that it didn't get entered into the computer until the 21st. I was very disappointed that it didn't work out the way it was suppose to.
