Help stop 28,000 Commonwealth Care terminations

June 23, 2009 - 2:42pm - Community Partners - Amherst

Twenty-eight thousand Commonwealth Care members are slated to lose their coverage under the FY2010 budget. All are taxpaying, lawfully residing immigrants. Many of these people would never have gotten coverage without the help of outreach and enrollment professionals like you.

It's not too late for Governor Patrick to put these members back in the budget - but he needs to hear from us TODAY. Health Care For All has made it easy to add your voice: please go to their webpage and send an email to the Governor.

For updated information about the budget:

Thanks to your advocacy efforts, outreach and enrollment grants will be funded at $2.5 million by off-budget sources! (Unfortunately, however, this is only 70% of what was allocated in the FY2009 budget.)

HSN is not affected

The loss of Commonwealth Care coverage could have a huge impact on these 28,000 people. However, in answer to a question that came up: those who have access to services at a hospital or community health center would still be able to get some care through the Health Safety Net.
