Massachusetts Institute for Community Health Leadership
Applications to the Massachusetts Institute for Community Health Leadership (MICHL) are due on August 12, 2009 by 5pm. The Foundation's goals for MICHL include:
- developing the next generation of leadership in Massachusetts
- helping those with leadership potential increase their personal impact
- strengthening participants' effectiveness in their organization
- enhancing participants' organization to better influence in the health care system

Grants
Letters of Inquiry for three of the Foundation’s program areas are due September 1, 2009 by 5pm. Letters of inquiry are required from applicants not currently receiving funding from an Access Grant program.
- Connecting Consumers with Care provides $20,000 to $25,000 in program support for one year (with the possibility of renewal) to Massachusetts community-based organizations, community health centers and select hospital-based programs that help low-income consumers enroll in coverage, navigate the health care system, and access providers.
- Strengthening the Voice for Access provides up to $50,000 in core operating support for one year (with the possibility of renewal) to Massachusetts organizations whose mission and activities focus significantly on promoting the health care interests of uninsured and low-income residents of the Commonwealth.
- The Innovation Fund for the Uninsured provides a limited number of grants up to $75,000 for three years to health care delivery organizations or consortia of organizations in order to improve the organization, continuity and completeness of care for the uninsured, and those at risk of losing their coverage.
Another leadership program opportunity!
The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation is also accepting applications for the fall 2009 Community Partnerships Leaders Program or CoPaLs. CoPaLs is a five week course designed to strengthen basic leadership skills (communication, organizing, collaborative meetings, policy impact) among emerging community leaders and activists who can make a difference in health care in Massachusetts.
