I am writing on behalf of my Dad. He is 85 in a new member of Mass Health, since the recent death of my mother. His primary insurance is medicare and secondary, Mass health. He is desperately in need of dentures. He only has three teeth remaing which will need to be removed. Where is the closest dentist that could provide both the abstraction and dentures, within a 20 - 25 mile radius.
Thank you

Dear Joanne,
I would try calling the Lynn Community Health Center, which has dental services, at (781) 596-2502. They are at 269 Union St in Lynn. You could also try calling the dentists in the directory we link to above - there are a few listed for Gloucester. Hope this helps!

Hi Bob,
In addition to the MassHealth provider list on this webpage, I'd like to give you contact information for some community health centers in Cape Cod that offer dental services - depending on where on the Cape you are:
Mid-Upper Cape Community Health Center (Hyannis): 508-778-0300
If you're on the outer cape, Outer Cape Health Services may be able to provide a referral: they are at 508-487-9395 (Provincetown) or 508-349-313 (Wellfleet).
As a Dentist Anesthesiologist, I can help pediatric patients in need of extensive dental treatment in an environment that is conducive to patient comfort & ideal working conditions for the dental provider.

Dear Anonymous,
As mentioned in the above posting. McCarty Anesthesiology, LLC provides anesthesia for pediatric (children) patients. If a given child qualifies for MassHealth and the treating dentist has obtained all required facility permits with the state dental board, the services of Dr. McCarty can be utilized for any pediatric MassHealth patient. There are no fees required from the patient, as long as they are eligible for MassHealth coverage. The office of McCarty Anesthesiology, LLC takes care of insurance submission. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email Dr. McCarty at the following link

My children are on Masshealth and I have taken them to 3 different places. I'm not happy with none of them. One place my son had his 4 mollars removed I heard him screaming due to pain while I was sitting in the waiting room. We definitely need more Masshealth dental providers for children. I've heard through the grapevine that alot of dental providers do not accept Masshealth because they pay the providers a very low rate.

I may be a little biased but I work in the Pediatric Dentistry clinic at Tufts Dental School. Approx 80% of our patients have Mass Health. You will get excellent treatment. We treat children from 6 months up to 18 yrs old. We also treat special needs children. We offer all types of dental care(i.e. fillings, extractions) within the building for both children and adults. We offer oral sedation & general anesthesia for children under the age of 5 that are in need of extensive dental treatment. Nitrous Oxide gas is available for older children. The dental work can be done by either 3rd or 4th yr dental students(the future dentists of the world) or by Pediatric residents(current dentists that are specializing in Pediatric dentistry). All work is overseen by a faculty member. (Ratio is 1 faculty per 4-5 students/residents.) If you have any questions or would like more information, please call 617-636-6971 to reach the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic.

Except that you don't file
Except that you don't file insurance and require payment upfront... not something a lot of people low income / Mass Heal consumers can afford.
