Free Care users alerted to HSN

The Division of Health Care Finance and Policy (DHCFP) began sending letters on December 7th telling users of the Uncompensated Care Pool (UCP) about some recent changes.

Name change - effective December 1, 2007

  • The Uncompensated Care Pool is now the Health Safety Net (HSN)

Pharmacy co-pays - postponed until March 2008

  • Children, up to their 19th birthday, have no co-pays
  • Adult HSN users will have co-pays at the pharmacy. $1 for generics and $3 for brand name drugs.

Medical visit co-pays - postponed until March 2008

  • Children have no co-pays, regardless of service site
  • Adults from 101.0% to 200.0% of the federal poverty level will have co-pays for services received at hospitals that accept HSN.
  • Services at Community Health Centers have no HSN co-pays.
