The FY09 budget released by the Senate Ways and Means Committee eliminates $3.5 million in level-funding for outreach and enrollment by community groups. The Committee completely removed the line item. The loss of this funding would be a huge blow to the community-based infrastructure now in place to guide people through the complex state systems for health coverage. These organizations have just started to recover from the elimination of funding between FY03 and FY05.

Senator Moore has filed an amendment to restore the $3.5 million that was allocated in FY07 and FY08. Co-sponsors must sign on to the amendment by Friday, May 16 at noon. There is no amendment number yet, but the line item being added back into the budget is 4000-0352.
