The Connector’s proposed Commonwealth Care co-pay schedule would likely lead members to opt out of preventative care, forego appointments for chronic conditions, skip medications, and/or drop or lose their coverage – and it could put medical providers in the position of making up the cost to the state. These were the recurrent concerns of respondents to a statewide survey conducted by Community Partners.
Nearly all of the 48 survey respondents self-identified as helping people enroll in Commonwealth Care; a few medical providers and Commonwealth Care members also gave input. Over 90% of respondents expressed concern that the proposed co-pay changes would be unaffordable for the newly enrolled membership.
Senator Moore also questions increases
Last week, Senator Moore sent a letter to Jon Kingsdale, Connector Executive Director, about proposed increases to CommCare co-pays and premiums. His concerns and our survey respondents' concerns line up pretty well. Thanks to Health Care For All for making it available.
