Currently, self-employed people in the IP receive both an employer (IP) and employee (Premium Assistance) subsidy towards the cost of health insurance. Chapter 58 health care reform legislation requires that as of July 1, 2007 self-employed people receive only the employee (Premium Assistance) subsidy.
This change will mean a subsidy reduction of $33.33 per month for those with individual coverage, $66.66 per month for those with a couple/dual plan and $83.33 for those with family coverage.
