Medicare Part D Open Enrollment; some LIS beneficiaries will move to new plans

Submitted by Laura at CP on November 15, 2007 - 10:24am.

Starting November 15, Medicare Part D has open enrollment for health and prescription drug coverage in 2008.

Some Medicare Part D members receiving the full Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) 'Extra Help' will be assigned to new prescription drug plans as of January 1, 2008 if their current plan is raising its monthly premium above the new $29.17 premium benchmark. The Center for Medicare Services (CMS) will reassign those who were auto-assigned into their current plans. Those LIS beneficiaries who voluntarily chose their current plan will NOT be reassigned; but CMS will notify them that their plan's premium is going up.

Part D open enrollment information is also available as PDF files in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
