Outreach funding restored in FY2010 state budget

Submitted by Laura at CP on July 21, 2009 - 9:28am.

The legislature has restored $2.5 million for outreach and enrollment in the fiscal year 2010 state budget by overriding Governor Patrick's veto of Outside Section 129. This Outside Section includes language that directs the Massachusetts Health and Educational Facilities Authority (HEFA) and the Commonwealth Connector to fund "the MassHealth Outreach Enrollment grants."

We will keep you posted as we learn more about this funding!

Do we know which of our

Do we know which of our legislators in particular should receive extra thanks for their support on this issue?

A good question

A good question - we can all thank our Senators, and most of us could thank our Representatives, too. The vote in the House was 135-22; the vote in the Senate was 37-0. Here's a link to the roll call of how Reps voted.

It is interesting to note that the override was of Outside Section 129 as a whole, which continues FY2009 cost shifts to state authorities. I think the section includes about $21.6 million total - and the outreach grants make up $2.5 million of that.
