CMS clarifies Medicaid citizenship documentation requirements

On July 6, CMS issued new citizenship documentation guidelines for Medicaid recipients and applicants. The new rule exempts citizens with Medicare or Social Security Income from having to provide documentation. It also provides that states may verify information through data matches with other agencies, and that current Medicaid recipients will remain eligible while showing a good faith effort to obtain documentation.
