Individual mandate survey results

Sixty-one individuals in 37 communities across the Commonwealth responded to the survey. Respondents included people working in hospitals and community health centers, legislators and members of religious communities, community health workers, and staff at community-based organizations and anti-poverty agencies.

The survey found that calls come in daily about the individual mandate. Even so, respondents are concerned that many remain unaware that they must get health insurance by December 31 or face a penalty. In most cases, 'the public' learned about the individual mandate by word of mouth and from outreach workers' efforts. When someone needs help learning more or enrolling, same-day or next-day appointments are available in the majority of cases, although some sites are scheduling more than a week out. Survey respondents said they recommended to clients that they be insured by November 15 to ensure coverage by December 31.

Health Insurance Mandate

When it comes to health insurance, the plan that would hurt our economy the least is Hillary Clinton's plan. Everyone would have health insurance. WA, NJ, NY and a few other states who have already tried Obama's proposed health insurance plan of not mandating coverage. These states have driven out of the better insurance companies. When anybody can get health insurance without having to go through medical underwriting, people won't get coverage until they absolutely need it. Usually because of a serious illness. This causes health premiums to sky-rocket. That's because insurance companies are only paying claims for unhealthy people. The plans in these states tend to not be that great either. If everyone has health benefits, the premiums would be less because healthy people would factor in on determining the premium.
