Medicare Part D members, who also receive MassHealth or Prescription Advantage, will continue to be able to receive a one-time, 30-day supply of medications through these programs if their Part D coverage fails to cover them. If the member's Part D coverage will still not cover the medication after the 30-day supply has been depleted, MassHealth will pay for a one-time 72-hour supply of the same prescribed medication. The law authorizing this 'safety net,' originally set to expire on June 30, has been extended until December 31, 2006. According to Health Care for All, almost 200 people per day rely on this law to obtain their medications.
