Medicare outlines steps to correct refund error

Submitted by Anonymous on August 30, 2006 - 3:24pm.

Last week CMS announced that Medicare reimbursed 230,000 beneficiaries for prescription drug premiums in error. To correct this, CMS will send a letter this week to those affected, outlining their options for repaying the agency and assuring them that their coverage will not be interrupted. Options include returning the voided check, sending a personal check, or authorizing an electronic debit from their account. Monthly installment arrangements may be requested.

Beneficiaries may call Medicare at (866) 292-8080 to discuss these options and get answers to other refund-related questions.

Part D Premium Reimbursement

Thank you for this article.

I work with a patient and his wife. I applied for Prescription Advantage coverage as well as Part D for them. The problem is since Jnauary 06 this couple has been paying their monthly premium as well as for Prescription Advantage. HELP!!

Prescription Advantage has done conference calls with me and the patient to the Part D plan giving information about payment and the Part D plan will not reimburse my patient and his wife.

Who can I call to assist in resolving this matter? This amount is 60.00 a month times 9 months including the September 06 payment. This money is important to them and they could use it.

Anyone have a contact and telephone number?

Thank you again.
