The benefit of Prescription Advantage membership is increasingly important to eligible seniors and disabled individuals in 2007. Part D programs are leaving many seniors with high out-of-pocket costs as they enter the coverage gap, or 'donut hole.' Fewer Medicare Part D plans available in Massachusetts for 2007 will offer coverage in the donut hole, and those that do will cover generic drugs only. Prescription Advantage will cover all or a portion of those costs, depending upon the member's income.
Open enrollment in Prescription Advantage continues through November 15. Applications must be received at Prescription Advantage offices by November 15. Faxes are accepted at 508-793-1133.
Families USA reports on worsening donut hole
As we were writing the Prescription Advantage email, Families USA released Coverage through the "Doughnut Hole" Grows Scarcer in 2007. Key findings in the report include the fact that for 2007, Massachusetts and the other New England states will have no stand-alone plans with meaningful coverage through the doughnut hole.
