State moves to cut costs to members

Submitted by ADMIN Meg on April 19, 2007 - 2:48pm.

Changes proposed last week will make state-subsidized health insurance more affordable for some. MassHealth plans to waive premiums for children on MassHealth Family Assistance whose parents are paying for Commonwealth Care. This represents a savings of $12-$28 per child, up to a total of $84 a month for a family with three or more children.

Premiums for Commonwealth Care members between 100.1%-150% of the federal poverty level (FPL) will also be waived. Members will remain in Plan Type 2, which does not provide dental coverage. Commonwealth Care members in the 150.1%-200% FPL range will see their premiums drop from $40 to $35 a month.

These changes are tentatively scheduled for July 1, 2007.
